Recd of Moses Logan his tax in full for the year 1819 & 1818 $6.92 cents

Wm Bowen [public title]

Moses Logan was John’s brother and the oldest son of Maj. Francis Logan and Hannah Trimble. He was born October 22, 1770 in South Carolina. He married Susannah Hyder on October 22, 1799. They had 12 children with the known ones being Mary J., Benjamin, Nancy (m. Isaac Brooks), Andrew Jackson, James Monroe, Albert G. (m. first cousin Nancy Twitty Logan), Patsey, Margaret and Alpha. He was also a Justice of Peace in Rutherford County, NC.  He  died March 1866 in Rutherford County, NC.

Much like John Logan’s tax receipt from 1813 that was collected by Aaron Camp, I can’t make out the public title after their names. Now there are a several William Bowen‘s from a few different generations that I am trying to sort out before posting anything further about him. I’ve contacted some Bowen researchers for clarification and will update this post as soon as I find out more.

If you have any info about William Bowen or Moses Logan, please post a comment below.

About the Logan Project: I possess a box of 170 documents passed down 6 generations in the Logan family that originate from John Logan (1775-1841) of Rutherford County, NC. These documents are mainly receipts that show the various business and legal dealings of many different families from Rutherford County, NC. I will be posting these documents on this blog in chronological order. The scanned images of these documents are the copyright of Jonathan Medford. Do not redistribute these documents for the purpose of commercial gain without his expressed written permission.
